Alexander J Nowak (1996) is a visual artist and photographer whose work operates at the intersection of documentary practice and archival research. Though rooted in the traditions of documentary photography, his practice utilizes collaborative methods and historical materials to examine the layered complexities of social environments.

His research-based projects frequently explore the themes of social myths, youth culture and the manifestations of religion and faith within contemporary society. By blending long-form observation with an investigative approach to history, his work seeks to visualize how past events continue to shape present-day communal identities.

Currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston, he holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hochschule Hannover in Germany. His academic and professional path is marked by a strong international focus, including a year of intensive study and project development in the United States at Texas State University.
